This post series comes out once a month and it takes a peek into different areas of our home, relationship and life.
This month’s topic for Let’s Look is taking a peek at how we organize our holiday decor storage!
In case you missed them, here are my previous Let’s Look posts:

Let me start with saying that I’m not uber organized in this area. My decor doesn’t sit beautifully all lined up and labeled until its shinning moment of coming out to celebrate! Does each holiday have an area where it goes, yes! Do I have bins designated for each holiday, yes! Do I have a system that works for me and our home, yes! So, it’s nothing fancy but I’ll show you what I do and i’ll link some good storage options along the way.
Julie’s Holiday Decor Storage System
Let’s first talk about Christmas decor. That is the holiday I hands down have the most decorations for. When we had a water leak a few years back and we got to renovate our kitchen, there are a few other things I did to make our home more functional for us.
The picture below is of our downstairs hallway closet…the area beyond the hanging clothes used to be closed in and from my kitchen side was used as an awkward walk-in panty. We got rid of the barely functional pantry and I had the cavity opened up from this closet side instead; I definitely had Christmas decor storage on my mind for it’s use. And I gotta say it has worked out great!! Ps…ignore the random wires and cables mess please.
Once you go beyond the hanging jackets, this is what you’ll find….floor to ceiling Christmas decorations! You could use these bins or these bins for storing your holiday decor.
Christmas is my jam, it holds my heart, and my love for all things Christmas decor and tradition. My late Grammy shared this passion of mine and actually my parents are very well stocked in x-mas decor too. Anyways, these large decor items you see in this picture were from my Grammy and after she passed and I inherited them, I needed a larger place to store it all.
The fact that they are stored inside my house, on ground level and not high up in an attic, where you need to take them down a ladder is very functional and I can do it all myself.
Christmas Ornament Storage
I also inherited this stacking container from Grammy for storing xmas ornaments and it is now held together by tape (probably should replace it). I love how the container came with dividers, it is perfect for ornament storage. You could use THESE or THESE to help you with ornament organization.
Garage Holiday Storage
Fair warning the storage out here is really pretty….get excited!! Here is where the Christmas Tree is stored.
We have some cabinets in our 3rd car garage. On top of the cabinets you can see the boys xmas trees for their bedrooms. Then, on the top shelf some random larger items.
Holiday Wreath Storage
This container would be great to store wreaths in.
I have 3 of these large bags that hold wreath’s too. You could use these or these to store your wreaths.
They have a home stacked up on each other in the cabinet right next to my Halloween bin.
Random Container Holiday Storage
This container holds Thanksgiving. Maybe this will be the year I actually label these bins, lol
Wow, check out my amazing storage for Valentine’s Day and Easter. But hey, at least they each of their own bin!
Upstairs Holiday Storage
More randomness. These shelves in my upstairs hallway hold a few breakable holiday decorations. Then on the top shelf is where I keep the countdown felt holiday calendars for each holiday.
Upstairs Closet
These long bins I use to store wrapping paper and all the seasonal florals that I change out during the holidays. You can use THESE bins for holding your fake flowers and plant decor.
Holiday Wrapping Paper Decor Storage
In our built-ins, I have a designated drawer for just holiday wrapping accessories. I have a separate drawer for regular wrapping accessories and another one for ribbon. But you do the most wrapping at Christmas time so having a drawer just for Christmas wrapping supplies has been very useful and helpful.
That’s a wrap on how I house all my holiday decor. I welcome any ideas or additional thoughts on what you do to keep it all organized. Leave me a comment in the section below to tell me.
Next month, we will be talking about Thanksgiving menu! I’ll be in Florida for Thanksgiving this year. I love helping either my parents or my in-laws with the menu….my mouth is already watering!
Thanks for reading along today!
