I’m so excited to link up with Sheaffer & Shay!
This post is where I will tell you about a variety of things about what we are up to, what we are cooking, what we are looking forward to, etc.
This post comes out on the last Wednesday of each month. I hope you enjoy it!

3 | WHAT I’M LOVING
Decluttering & Cleaning Out
I’ve only gotten to three areas so far but hey, you need to always celebrate the wins and the cleaning out bug didn’t hit me until mid-January.
My goal to accomplish this list is to tackle at least two areas per week. I look at how big the job is and if I need to schedule in more than one day to complete it. This week, I’ve scheduled to clean out the toy bins in the playroom and Julie & Jason’s workout/comfy clothes drawers.
I’m loving seeing each space of my house after cleaning out and organizing it. Let’s look at some before and after pics….side note- I only got one before pic, I forget to take the before picture. I’ll try to remember to take them from now on.

- Update pictures around the house
- Add contacts from planner into phone (go digital with my address book)
- Invite people to do social plans-put self out there to expand local mommy friends
Lots of family time
Kid Sports
Luke is currently enjoying his basketball league at the Ladera Ranch Sports Center. Tyler is preparing for his first season in coach pitch baseball! He’s pretty nervous about starting something new. The best way to calm those nerves is by getting in some practice on what he can expect and this strategy is helping!
Working on his Lego City!
Lots of cooking happening in the kitchen
Tyler is picking out 2 recipes to make this week, he’s doing this every Sunday afternoon!
5 | WHAT I’M DREADING
At this moment, I’m dreading figuring out what we’re going to do for Tyler’s birthday party next month. We gave him the option of having a party or going somewhere to have a family experience. He chose to have a party. The reason why I’m dreading it is because we’re still in a strange time with Covid 3.0 in CA. Last year, we did the bounce house, piñata fun at our home, so this year I don’t want to have the party at our house. But there are lots of rules and regulations going on with kid activity places and it’s giving me some worry and anxiety. I think I just need to start looking into it and seeing what the best options are….
6 | WHAT I’M WORKING ON
I’m loving my new post series called, Cooking with Kids!
French Grilled Cheese
Apple Fries + Nut Butter
So proud of my mini chef and all the hard work he’s been doing in the kitchen!
7 | WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT
I’m excited about this new Trader Joe’s find! Sometimes you need a little sweetness after dinner and these have hit the spot for Jason and I.
I’m excited about my cooking sessions with my favorite mini chef on Saturdays! Instead of going out to eat or eating the same things for lunch, we’re enjoying having a different variety of lunch options at home. We loved Tyler’s Bacon-Cheddar Wafflewich dipped in warm syrup….post will be up on the blog soon!
8 | WHAT ELSE IS NEW?
Our besties that lived next door to us for the past 7 years moved! Thankfully, they moved only 5 minutes away. Here they are in the Gilmore’s new hot tub!
9 | WHAT I’M WATCHING \ READING
Jason and I are currently enjoying watching the new season of Ozark!
We’re also watching Curb Your Enthusiasm! Nothing makes me laugh more than Larry David!
I’m enjoying watching the second season of Emily in Paris!
I’ve been going through and watching this cult classic that I missed watching during my twenties. I’m on season 7 and I’m now going to take a break. I’m frustrated that the characters Peyton & Lucas left the show. They were the heart of the show and it was so disappointing to find out that Lucas left because of money…that was not cool to the fans. But more disturbing was finding out how poorly the women were treated on this show! Hilarie Burton who played Peyton Sawyer, took a stance against the shows creator, Mark Schwahn and quit due to sexual harassment. He ruined his own show and shame on him for what he put all these women through. It’s so upsetting to hear that a show went on for 9 seasons and during all those seasons it was a terrible work environment. I’ll come back to it at some point but right now I’m upset, lol.
I’m only 3 episodes into And Just Like That. The anticipation of this show was so high for me, but I’m not loving the absence of the character Samantha, Kim Cattrall. I’ll get back into it but I also found this new season of Sex in the City a little depressing and don’t we have enough of that in our lives right now?!?! Why did you have to take away Mr. Big, not cool!!
Reading….yeah I need to get on this since I have a goal of reading/listening to 20 books this year.
10 | WHAT I’M LISTENING TO
Currently, Jason on a phone call, lol! He’s going to start going into the office more again next week and than I’ll be back to my quiet mornings. But on the flip side, I’ll miss hanging out with him at lunchtime and stealing kisses throughout the day.
11 | WHAT I’M WEARING
I usually like to show you new items that I’ve added into my wardrobe but I’m currently on a “no-spending money month”, whomp whomp! Hey, it needed to be done because the holidays were out of control with Christmas and traveling 2x and of course the costs of everything going WAY up! A break was needed and I’ve actually enjoyed seeing how much less we have spent this month. I love to track and follow our expenses and see improvements.
Beyond Yoga Pants
My bestie owns a fitness studio and I always look to her to recommend athleisure wear to me. She was gifted several pairs of these workout pants by Beyond Yoga and she was so kind to pass along a FREE pair to me!! Ummm they are the softest pants I’ve ever worked out in and they basically float on your body. If you are looking for a compression top, these are not for you. But for basic cardio, yoga, strength training, I’m wanting to wear these on repeat! I feel the need to warn you tho, they are unfortunately on the more expensive side for workout leggings, big boo!
12 | WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND
Hanging out with our bestie, Chris Collins!
Anther friend of ours is leaving CA…I’m noticing a trend and I’m not happy about it!!! Chris is a traveling man and doesn’t stay in one place for too long. I suppose we should be thankful for having him with us for a few years (thanks covid!).
Jason and Chris have been friends since high school. They met while attending The American School of Paris. We’re planning on hanging out at the house and smoking some brisket for the first time. Jason will also be smoking some mac & cheese and bbqing corn on the cob. We’ll also be watching lots of football too.
More cooking in the kitchen with this cutie!
This week we’re cooking, Hoagie Grilled Cheese Sandwiches and Sweet Strawberry Popcorn!
Luke has a basketball game on Friday night and Tyler has his first baseball practice on Saturday morning.
13 | WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH

I’m belatedly catching up on my What’s Up Wednesday posts. I need to get better about getting my kids on the cooking schedule. I don’t encourage them to do it often enough and that needs to change!
Julie Gimeno says
Well not all kids are good at cooking or enjoy it. But always good for them to at least know the basics, good luck!
