This is a post where I choose a day at random and document our day. I love reading these types of posts because I find it fascinating to see how people do life and what happens throughout their day.
This particular day fell on a Tuesday. Tuesdays are a day that Tyler is home with me and Luke gets out of school early. I hope you enjoy seeing a typical day on how the Gimeno family does life.
Jason and Luke are the first ones to get up in the morning by 6:30 am. Jason makes Luke breakfast. He is a lover of toast and enjoyed it with his favorite spread, Nutella. He also had some yogurt and, of course, his daily vitamins. His vitamins are two multi-vitamins as well as a zarbee’s elderberry immune support vitamin. I swear these have helped him stay healthy from school germs.
I finished getting Luke’s lunch ready for school and making my coffee.
Time to get Tyler up…I think he is growing because usually, he is up before 7am.
Love catching a look at him while he is still sleeping Good Morning Sunshine!
I carpool every day with my neighbor and it is such a blessing. On Tuesdays, I take the big boys to school and she picks them up.
When we get home it’s time for Tyler’s breakfast and my second cup of coffee.
Tyler is enjoying some cereal, yogurt and, of course, his daily vitamins Love adding some vital proteins to my coffee
While Tyler is eating breakfast, I have a routine of writing in my daily gratitude journal and reading an entry from The Daily Stoic, followed by writing in a journal to reflect on what I read and apply it to my life. This is my type of meditation that helps me start off my day by being centered and happy for my blessings.
Morning Routine: Daily Stoic and my gratitude journal Love drinking my HOT coffee while I reflect
Next, I reset the kitchen after the boys’ breakfast. I don’t eat my first meal until after 11 am, because I fast for 16 hours to give my body a break from digesting so it can have time to repair and get rid of toxins. I clean up the kitchen and empty the dishwasher.
He has such a helping heart Tyler is in charge of putting away the kids’ stuff I purposely put the kid stuff in an area they can reach
I head upstairs to get myself ready for the gym and to get Tyler dressed.
My sidekick while I’m getting ready, you will find cars and trucks in every room of our house, lol
We are off to the gym. My goal is to go 3x/week. Tues/Thurs and either Sat or Sun. Does this always happen? No, life gets in the way sometimes. But I schedule my gym visits so that they are in my routine and I try hard to make it a priority because it does help me feel my best. I have struggled with being consistent but this past year has been the most consistent year to date so I’m taking that as a WIN!
Tyler goes to Kids Club, which is an awesome help to us Mamas when the gym has childcare!!
I do cardio and strength training on the same day so I’m usually in the gym for 1.5 hours.
When I picked up Tyler he made a cute craft to take home. Love all the people that work in the Kids Club at 24-hour fitness, they have been so great with my boys.
When we get back home it’s time for a snack for Tyler and a post-workout snack for me.
String cheese in a bowl Hard boiled egg for me
I’m off to shower and get dressed for the day….
Lunchtime for us, Tyler had a peanut butter & jelly sandwich with chips, apples, and cucumbers to dip into a greek yogurt dip from Trader Joes. I love eggs and today I made them with spinach and topped them with avocado and fresh pico de gallo. I also had some blueberries, normally I have strawberries too but we were out of them.
Taking my daily vitamins is a must and I have them after my first meal of the day.
Yay, Luke is back home from school!
Tuesdays are our grocery shopping day. We first go to Trader Joe’s and get everything we can from there and then head to Ralphs. I haven’t pulled the trigger on getting our groceries delivered yet because we like fresh lunchmeat and cheese from the deli and I enjoy going to TJ’s….we’ll see if I switch it up because it would be nice to the save the time.
My boys love that TJs has small carts for the kiddos They like empting the carts out at checkout Tyler likes telling them what each food is and who eats it, lol
The next stop is Ralphs….
Helping Mom with the grocery list Don’t judge, Tyler likes a donut while we shop here
My boys help me carry in all the groceries, it’s a big help!
Tyler likes to empty out every bag and puts everything all over the place and gets excited finding what is in each bag. He is my little chef, he loves play food and his play kitchen. He does imaginative play every day with his play food and loves the opportunity to be with me in the kitchen too.
Lukes starts working on his homework, math, and reading lessons. When I’m finished putting away the groceries we do a practice spelling test.
Tyler made Luke a plate of play food snacks for him, lol Using his boogie board writing tablet for his spelling test
It was a beautiful day out and I can tell Springtime is on its way. The boys headed outside to play in our cul-de-sac with our next-door neighbors Graham and Henry.
Tyler loves his backhoe
The boys played outside until my Dad, Papa Forrest, came over to pick up Luke and take him to his Faith Formation class at church. His class is late and it helps that my Dad takes him so I can tend to dinner. My parents live 5 minutes from us and it is a blessing.
It’s afternoon snack time for Tyler and me, he enjoyed some cottage cheese and a banana and I had a Chomps meat stick, it’s awesome that these meat sticks are high in protein, low in calories and keep me full until dinnertime. On this day I needed a pick me up so I enjoyed a green tea latte while I snuck in some work time on my blog before dinner.
Jason picks Luke up from Faith class on his way home from work.
While I was cooking dinner, Tyler put out his play food for dinner and we had to enjoy that before we got to enjoy our actual dinner, lol
I kept dinner very simple tonight. It doesn’t always have to be some elaborate meal, the idea is to have a plan for what’s for dinner. I made chicken over couscous and asparagus. The boys had toast and peas with their chicken. We enjoyed sitting down for dinner together and talked about our day. There was a lot of talk about Tyler’s birthday because we are going to Legoland this weekend to celebrate him turning 4!!
After dinner, I cleaned up the kitchen and got the main living area back to normal to reset it for the next day. I also made the boy’s lunches for the next day. I find doing this the day before cuts down on the morning chaos of getting ready.
Messy kitchen Making the boys lunches for tomorrow Awe, clean kitchen. I love to wear gloves as I clean so the hot water doesn’t age my hands Yay, back to normal! Reset complete!
While I do all this, it is much more enjoyable while I listen to a Podcast.
While I’m downstairs, Jason is playing with the boys upstairs. Luke calls this time, Daddy Recess! It has turned into a competition between my boys of who gets to play with Dad first and they will call it, “I call first dibs on playtime”!
We have a basketball hoop in our bedroom I know very romantic but we have nice open place to play We have a playroom but toys still find their way to our bedroom
Truth be told, we put this train table together for Christmas and then realized it won’t fit in the doorway to the playroom. For now, it is in our bedroom because I’m too lazy to take it apart and redo it, lol.
I usually get to join in on the fun at the tail-end of playtime. I then wash my face and go through that routine. I like to do my night time skin routine earlier in the evening rather than right before I go to bed when I’m tired. Next up, we are headed into our nighttime routine for the boys, this starts at 7:45 pm, Jay and I have an understanding of whoever cooks & cleans the other one runs bath/shower time, brushing teeth and getting into pajamas. Typically, I’m always cooking & cleaning so Jay runs the nighttime routine. Let me tell you it does not go unnoticed that after a long day at work, Jason plays with the boys and then does this routine. It truly helps to be a team and not have all of these responsibilities fall onto one parent. I feel very blessed to have an involved and helpful husband…praise hands!!!
Tonight Luke is enjoying reading a chapter book after his shower.
Every night I read to Tyler before bed. He gets to pick out the story. Tonight he chose a Clifford book about his birthday….Tyler has his birthday on his mind and we count down the “sleeps” until his big day. 18 to go….
After the boys are tucked in, they go to bed at 8:30 pm, Jay goes to the garage to work out and I’m enjoying some mindless guilty pleasure viewing of Vanderpump Rules, don’t judge, lol
When Jay is finished we got to have a kid-free conversation until we settled into bed at 10ish. Jay put on a late-night show while I enjoyed reading blog posts from bloggers that I love.
I know our life isn’t crazy exciting, especially during the week, however, I hope you enjoyed a peek into our life, thanks for reading and supporting my blog!
