It’s FRI-YAY!! I hope you all had a good week! It was business as usual around here mixed in with some chaos. In case you missed it here’s my post from yesterday on A Day in the Life with Us!
Alright, lets get down to my faves from the past week!
On Thursday, Jason and I got to enjoy a “Valentine’s Day” dinner date together. Whoa, it was the first time we have gone out to dinner alone in a YEAR! And it felt so nice to have this special time together. We decided to make reservations at Selanne Steak Tavern in Laguna Beach because we had a gift card to cash in on.
It was SO delicious…I mean out of this world DELICIOUS! I’m still thinking about the mac and cheese, LOL I enjoyed a Moscow mule while Jason sipped on his IPA beer.
– Appetizer –
We split the scallops (they spit it for us so this is just my portion)
– Main Course –
I got the petite filet and Jason got the rib-eye steak.
– The Sides –
Green Beans
– Mac and Cheese –
– Dessert –
Another Moscow Mule, LOL
We had our own private table outside in their courtyard accompanied by a nice warm heater.
We were all smiles after our delicious and romantic date night!
On Friday we had our weekly, Family Fun Night, we enjoyed In-N-Out for dinner. Our boys favorites are In-N-Out and Pizza so we pretty much alternate between these two options for Friday night dinners. I’m not going to complain, I love them both too! We’re currently going through the Starwars movies and we watched Starwars VI Return of the Jedi and Tyler is liking it but he’s not as into it as Luke was.
On Saturday we hosted my family for the February birthdays. If you can believe it half on my family was born in February. But it gives us a good reason to get together and celebrate and that’s a FAVORITE!
My cousin Whitney couldn’t stay long so her and her son Jodey came over earlier to hang out. Our neighbor friend Graham joined us too.
Tyler decided he wanted to put on a magic show for everyone. It was very entertaining and definitely a FAVORITE!
Later, my Aunt Diane, my parents and my brother and his family joined us for cocktails and appetizers…sorry forgot to get a picture, this happens often because I get carried away with entertaining and visiting.
We kept dinner simple and ordered in from Tannins an Italian restaurant from in town and it was very yummy.
Colleen, my sister-in-law, brought over an Oreo ice cream pie (again no picture but you can kind of see it in the pic above) it was to die for delicious! It was a fun time visiting and celebrating together.
Tyler’s teacher, Mrs. Annemarie sent me some recent pictures that were too cute not to share.
This was last Wednesday when he celebrated his birthday with his school friends. So Cute!!!
Last week they made a rocket ship and it inspired a lot of imaginative play…how cool is this?!?!

Last week a FAVORITE for me was doing a Smoothie Recharge. It was fun trying out all different types of smoothies that focussed on different micronutrients.
Orange Immunity Boost Smoothie

- 1/2 Banana
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric
- 1/8 tsp Cinnamon
- 3/4 tsp Ginger
- 1 1/2 tsps Ground Flax Seed
- 1/3 c Unsweetened Almond Milk
- 1 Navel Orange (peeled & sectioned)
- 1 1/2 tsps Maple Syrup
- 1 serving Protein Powder
A big milestone day for Luke happened this week, he started riding his bike to school!! It was definitely a FAVORITE for him and his buddies.
True to Luke’s personality he was apprehensive about riding his bike to school at first. His friend Zane was already doing it and it prompted the idea into Graham and Luke’s head. Luke’s personality is very cautious and he’s not one that takes many risks. I told him I wouldn’t allow him to do it if I thought it wasn’t safe or if he wasn’t ready. He took a little time to process and think about it and then asked if he could do the ride on his own before doing it with his friends, just to make sure he could do it. I agreed to letting him try out the route and he loved it and said YES to biking to school! Their school is down the street from us and is less then a 10 minute ride. I could tell he was proud of himself and I was beaming with pride as he took this independent step.
