Mom with a Plan

Home Tour: Family Room

This is a series where I will show you a tour of each room in our house once it is completed. The next room I will be showing you on our Home Tour is our most lived-in room…The Family Room!!

In case you missed the first room tour I did, here is Luke’s Bedroom.

I’ve been slowly working on this room for a while but this past year is when I finally got it to all come together and now we love it!

White window curtains, rods, rod balls at the ends and rings are from Pottery barn. White blinds are from Home Depot.

Let’s start with the main furniture: the couch, ottoman and the recliner chair. I shopped around for a long time and wasn’t finding what I wanted within the price range I was looking for. I got referred to The Sofa Shop-Comforts of Home from my sister-in-law, Colleen, and lucky me, this great store is located right in my city of San Juan Capistrano. They have lots of options displayed but you get to customize your furniture and it’s still better priced than Pottery Barn. Score!!

The Couch

First of all, our couch is extremely comfortable and that was important to us. We ordered it to be extra deep so lots of room to snuggle during movie time. You choose the fabric, how the arms look, I chose to have the beading on it and it’s just AMAZING! The couch came with 3 matching fabric pillows. All of the cushions can be taken off and washed. The material is very wipeable. The other pillows are from Pottery Barn.

The Ottoman

The ottoman goes through a beating with shoes on it and it has held up well for the past 5 years. It opens for extra storage and is wipeable.

Ottoman Tray and Accessories

The grey tray (out of stock on mine but HERE and Here are similar ones) and kleenex box are from Amazon. The Shells and coasters are from HomeGoods.
The flowers and silver dish that we use to hold our TV remotes are from HomeGoods.

Reclining Chair

I didn’t want a huge leather chunky chair and this one fit our needs: comfortable, reclines, USB hook up and the back goes high enough to support our head. The cream pillow is from HomeGoods.

The End Table

The End Table is from Pottery Barn. I couldn’t find the exact one but this one and this one are similar. It’s simple, it fit in this small area and I liked the octagon shape and the dark metal stand. The top is marble and I LOVE marble! The plant is from HomeGoods and the frame is from Aaron Brother’s.

The Rug

Our rug is from Pottery Barn and I love the design. I wanted it to be grey and cream and not be wool where it gets lots of fuzz balls. This rug has gone through a beating and is holding up pretty well considering the season of life we’re in. We did just have it professionally cleaned and it needed it!

Picture Collage

I love this set from Pottery Barn! They come in white, brown, and grey.

Blanket Basket

This basket is from Amazon and it fit into our color scheme and is very functional. It’s nice to have a place to put blankets when they are not in use.

The Mirror

Wall decor is definitely a struggle for me and when my mom helped me find this one from Pottery Barn, I knew right away it was the one. I love how the frame looks grey-silver and I like the beading around the edges.

Three Matching Pieces of Furniture: Console table, TV stand, and Bookshelf

Console Table

I love the grey wash farmhouse furniture we purchased from Pier 1. We got a great deal on it at the beginning of last year and I couldn’t believe how discounted it was and then literally the next day Pier1 announced a lot of their stores closing. This news was so sad to me because I love Pier1 for holiday items, knick knacks and some furniture. Side note: the candlestick holders are from Pottery Barn.
All 3 of these items are from HomeGoods
The vase was from my sister-in-law Colleen, Flowers I purchased them from Micheal’s and made the arrangement. The picture frames are from HomeGoods.

The Bookshelf

The bookshelf is from Pier1
The plant is from Micheal’s, grey picture frames are from Arron Brothers, and the Willow Tree Statue is from Amazon and represents the year that Tyler was born in 2016.
Dancing girl is a LLADRO statue that was handcrafted from Spain, the grey bird is from Pier1 and the candle is from Anthropologie. I purchased all of these coffee table books off of Amazon, I made sure they were of interest and the books matched my color scheme. Books: The Art of Calm / Little Book of Wonders / Beautifully Said / Cupcakes and cashmere at Home / Coco Chanel / Beautifully Organized
Picture frames are from HomeGoods, Flowers are from Micheals and glass bowl is Kate Spade and was from my Macy’s wedding registry a long time ago.
These grey baskets are from HomeGoods

The TV Stand

The TV Stand is from Pier1
The frame on the left was a gift, the other frame and flowers are from HomeGoods and the candle holder is Baccarat and was a gift.
All frames and flowers are from HomeGoods

Let’s take a look Below…

Middle plant is from HomeGoods
Both sides have these baskets from HomeGoods. One of them holds all video game supplies and the other basket holds cards, card games and dice. The LED lanturns are from Pottery Barn.
The top shelf has a marble tray and glass balls from Pottery Barn and the bottom plant is from HomeGoods and I added in the white flowers.

Wall Shelves

The metal shelves are from Pottery Barn. All the frames are from Aaron Brothers. The lanterns are from Pier1, and the plants are from HomeGoods. Willow Tree statues were purchased off Amazon, Two Brothers statue was purchased in 2016 for my boys on Valentine’s Day. The husband and wife statue represented our 5th Wedding Anniversary. The separate two little boys represented when they each gained a brother in 2016.
The kids table is SO old and I’m hoping to one day soon get rid of it. They eat breakfast and lunch at this table and dinner is eaten on the island counter together as a family.

Play area behind the couch

KidKraft Kitchen was purchased off of Amazon, 3-tired white cart and grey drawer set are from Target. Blue and white baskets were also from Target. Floor mat was purchased from Amazon.

That’s a wrap on the home tour of our family room. I tried to link anything that I could still find on the internet but if you have any questions, I’m happy to answer them!
