Ingredients

Hamburger Stroganoff

  • 1 lb ground beef, turkey or chicken
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 8 oz can of mushrooms (we left out the mushrooms) drained
  • 10 oz can of cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup light sour cream
  • 1/4 cup worcestershire sauce
  • 12 oz package of egg noodles (whole wheat) cooked

Instructions

Egg Noodles

  1. Cook the noodles in boiling water while you make the meat mixture.

Meat Mixture

  1. Gather all the ingredients for the meat mixture: ground meat, onion, butter, flour, salt & pepper, garlic powder, mushrooms, mushroom soup, sour cream, and worcestershire sauce.

  2. Begin by taking out a large pan and cooking the ground meat and the onion in a skillet with the butter.

  3. Stir in flour, sprinkle in some salt & pepper, the garlic powder, and the mushrooms. Stir and combine ingredients for 5 minutes.

  4. Next, add the mushroom soup and simmer for 10 minutes. (we left out the mushrooms because the boys wouldn't eat them…keeps in more kid-friendly).

  5. Stir in the sour cream and the worcestershire sauce and heat through for 4-5 minutes.

  6. When you are ready to eat, serve the meat mixture over the cooked egg noodles. We served it with asparagus. Enjoy!
