Cheese-Topped Meat Pie

This casserole is kid-friendly, cheesy and delicious! It is a keto-friendly recipe and one that both of my boys enjoyed. Serve it with a side salad or a vegetable like broccoli and enjoy!

Ingredients

Crust

  • 1 1/2 cups almond flour
  • 1/2 cup sesame seeds
  • 1/2 cup coconut flour
  • 2 tbsp psyllium husk powder
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 6 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch garlic powder
  • 1 pinch chili powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup water

Meat Mixture

  • 3 lbs gound chuck cooked and drained
  • 1 small can of 6oz tomato paste
  • 1 med onion diced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ltalian seasoning

Cheese Layer

  • 16 oz cottege cheese
  • 14 oz cheddar cheese shredded

Instructions

Preheat oven to 400

Crust

  1. Combine all the crust ingredients into a bowl: almond flour, sesame seeds, coconut flour, psyllium husk powder, baking powder, olive oil, salt, garlic powder, chili powder, eggs and water.

  2. Mix all the ingredients until combined.

  3. Press the mixture into a greased 5 qt casserole dish. Bake for 10 minutes, then remove.

Meat Mixture

  1. Get all of the meat mixture ingredients together: ground chuck, tomato paste, onion, salt, pepper, chili powder and italian seasoning

  2. Combine all the ingredients into a large bowl.

  3. Layer the meat mixture on top of the cooked crust.

Cheese Layer

  1. Mix the cheese layer ingredients: cottege cheese & cheddar cheese into a medium size bowl.

  2. Put the cheese layer on top of the meat mixture.

Bake

  1. Cover the casserole dish with foil and bake for 15 minutes. Remove foil and cook for an additional 10 minutes.
