Mom with a Plan

What’s Up Wednesday!
October 28, 2020

I’m so excited to link up with Sheaffer & Shay! This is where I will tell you about a variety of things about what we are up to, what we are cooking, what we are looking forward to, etc. It is a post that will come out on the last Wednesday of each month. I hope you enjoy it!

1// What we’re eating this week:

Sausage and Pumpkin Soup! You can find the recipe HERE.

2// What I’m reminiscing about:

I’m reminiscing about the fun Summer we had, despite the season of Covid, we still managed to make lots of memories together! I feel blessed we were able to go to Lake Havasu, Lake Tahoe and Florida!

My favorite BOYS!!

3// What I’m loving:

I’m loving doing and enjoying all things PUMPKIN! Consuming foods & recipes with pumpkin, taking pictures with pumpkins, carving pumpkins, decorating with pumpkins. We are pumpkin HAPPY over here!!

Carving Pumpkins!

My helper Chef in the kitchen!
We baked Pumpkin Muffins with Chocolate Chips on top!
Slow Cooker Pumpkin Chili
Gluten Free Pumpkin Pasta with Spicy Sausage
Coloring Pumpkins!

4// What we’ve been up to:

We have been enjoying spending time as a family at home, making social plans with friends at each others homes and have enjoyed doing outside activities for the most part. We have kept to small gatherings but I feel like we are finally seeing more of our friends but in safe clean environments. AND I gotta say it feels GREAT! We thrive and feel like our social tank gets full when we are around people that we love. This year has been very different from other years but we are making the most of it and enjoying every friend we get to hang out with.

Hanging out with our good friend Jorge!
Having Jam sessions at home!
Hanging out playing corn hole and watching football!
Lots of swimming with friends!
Having playdates with friends at parks!
Hanging with friends by the pool in our backyard!
We went to the Ecology Center to take pictures with pumpkins, purchase fresh produce and support our local farmers!

5// What I’m dreading:

I’m kinda still dreading the same things I wrote about on the last WUW post. The election and the fallout of whoever wins. But I’m staying positive that people are going to get out there and VOTE and let their voices be heard in a constructive manner. I pray that we will unite as a country, get through this season of Covid and come out stronger on the other side of this all. I’m going to stick with that thought and hope and pray for the BEST!

6// What I’m working on:

Educating myself on all products that are CLEAN! I’m a consultant now for Beautycounter but really I just wanted to make the switch to have cleaner products in our home and I thought it would be fun and beneficial to bring you along for the ride. I think we can all agree that knowledge is power and we have the right to demand that the beauty industry is banning harmful ingredients that are found in our everyday products. Let’s all be part of the solution and live a cleaner and healthier life. Beautycounter is good for us and our planet!!

Ohh and they are having a great deal for new clients where you get a 20% discount at checkout, woohoo!!! Contact me for help!!

7// What I’m excited about:

I’m pumped to see joy on my boys faces on Halloween and to go trick-or- treating! I know it’s going to be a little different and not all homes are going to participate in trick-or-treating, which is totally ok and understandable but my boys are still going to dress up in costumes and go. Luke is going to be a Skull Trooper from Fortnite and Tyler is going to be the cutest dinosaur ever! The plan is to go to my brothers neighborhood and we are going to enjoy making memories with cousins!

Here was our family theme costumes from last year, we were some of the Avengers!

8// What I’m watching/reading:

I’m watching all the new Hallmark movies that come out each week. I think this weekend they start Christmas ones, LOL not sure I’m ready for those yet but I sure love all the Fall ones right now. They are lighthearted and just make me HAPPY! Yes, they can be cheesy but we need all the good feels we can get right now!!

I’m currently looking for my next book to listen to on audible. I mentioned before I struggle with sitting and reading so audible is definitely my jam right now. I finished listening to Where the Crawdads Sing and I thought it was just Ok. But I would love any recommendations you guys have on a must read book?!?!

I’m currently also watching the Bachelorette. I think Clare is kind of emotional but I appreciate her honest nature and that she gets straight to the point. I like that the franchise chose to go with an older women that has more experience and perspective, I hope she finds love this season! I’ve been hearing a lot about the show Emily in Paris and I’m looking forward to starting this lighthearted show soon too!

9// What I’m listening to:

I’m currently listening to Tyler play with his cars and little character figures while he does some imaginative play, I LOVE it! It’s so cute and he has an amazing imagination! I’m also listening to my older son Luke be loud with his friends while he plays some games online. It’s a social thing and I only allow him to talk and play with friends he knows, this is a HARD rule. But boy does he have a blast hanging out with friends virtually when he can’t always play and see his friends in person.

10// What I’m wearing:

You can click on all the pictures to take you to the item online!

My favorite Jogger pants from Amazon that are only $12.99!! I have two pairs in black and I just ordered another one in Charcoal and I can’t wait for them to arrive! A must have, if you ask me!

I’m not dressing up in a costume this year so this is what I’m wearing as my non-costume:

I needed a light weight black turtleneck shirt (it doesn’t get that cold in CA ) to wear with cardigan sweaters and this one is perfect. It does fit tight but it does the job of looking cute in the transition months with cardigan sweaters and it’s only $20!!

From Nordstrom, I’m loving this new sweater and I ordered it in black too!

I was in need of a new lightweight sweater in an oatmeal color and I’m loving this one!

Lastly, I had some ‘note’ money to use with Nordstrom’s and I purchased this cute necklace to wear during sweater season!

11// What I’m doing this weekend:

This weekend is Halloween!! I’m getting my hair done earlier in the day and then we are heading over to my brother’s home and neighborhood to have dinner and go trick-or-treating! It’s fun that Halloween falls on a Saturday and then we have no social plans on Sunday. On Sunday, I plan to take down Halloween decor and put up Thanksgiving decorations and then do all the usual things to prep for the week. Which consists of Blog work, meal-planning & making a grocery list and maybe if I’m feeling super motivated some laundry, LOL!

12// What I’m looking forward to next month:

Thanksgiving!!!! I’m also looking forward to enjoying the rest of the Fall season and celebrating my husband, Jason’s 39th Birthday!! Yup, I’m older than him, Lol. We are staying home for the holidays this year and will be celebrating Thanksgiving at my parents home. I’m also looking forward to giving my boys new Fall books and a Thanksgiving book at the beginning of the month to get our mindsets on being thankful for our blessings.

13// What else is new?

I feel like I need more hours in the days to get everything done that I want to accomplish but I suppose most moms feel this way. I’m also trying to make the most of this crazy year, I want to choose Joy rather then giving into all the worries of the world. But this mindset is definitely hard right now when I know so many people are hurting and going through hardships. Honestly though, I would love to hear what is new with YOU!! I want to get to know you better and it would make my day if you left me a message in the comment section.

I hope you all have a fun and safe Halloween!
