Mom with a Plan

Weekend Rewind //
February 1-2, 2020

This past weekend we took our boys to Legoland in Carlsbad, CA for Tyler’s 4th Birthday. In lieu of a big party (we will have a small family one) we decided to have a fun family weekend instead.

We left for Legoland early on Saturday morning and arrived with enough time to get early access to the park at 9:30 am due to staying at the hotel.

We stayed at the Castle Hotel
Ready for a fun day!
Legoland 2020

Early access only allows you 30 minutes before everyone else gets to enter the park. We were on a mission to go on two rides during this 30 minute time frame and we accomplished it! We went on the Ninjago ride first. The boys loved it!

We then went on the Coastersaurus ride in Explorer Island.

We decided to use our Reserve ‘N’ Ride Express passes that we purchased ahead of time on our first day. They give you a handheld device that clips on to your clothes. One ride at a time, you can schedule a time slot and pretty much have a less than a 5-minute wait. Amazing!!

We hit every ride and went on some rides multiple times, it was a successful day of having fun and getting everything we wanted in.

For lunch, we enjoyed some burgers and fries…the boy’s favorites! I turned around when I was eating to find Luke asking a group of people who were celebrating their son’s birthday if he could have a cupcake. I, of course, was mortified but leave it to Luke to ask for what he wants…they then gave one to Tyler too, lol

Fun times for Tyler in Fun Town, driving a car, building Legos, and playing in Duplo Playtown.

I love Luke’s silly personality and all the funny things he does to make us laugh!

At around, 4 pm Tyler was getting noticeably tired and he asked to go to the hotel, lol

While I was checking us in and Jason went to the car to get our stuff, the boys played. I love how Legoland hotels have entertainment in the lobbies for the kids to stay occupied.

We scheduled to stay in the Magic Wizard Deluxe Room and it did not disappoint!

The Scavenger Hunt and Treasure Box:

The castle hotel is known best for their outside play area and entertainment.

Jason and I got to relax and have a cocktail while watching the boys play

We ate dinner at the Dragons Den and I have to say the food was better at this hotel vs. the other Legoland hotel. They were sweet and sang Happy Birthday song to Tyler and gave him a cupcake. They had a fun lego play area at the front of the restaurant. The boys also got to enjoy a singing performance too.

We had a fun night playing outside on all the things. You can hotel hop so of course, we went by the other hotel to play and visit too.

We were all tired from a jam-packed day and got the boys into bed by 9ish. Around 10 pm I totally jinxed our night when I said: “remember, last time when we were here, Tyler was a baby and he wouldn’t sleep in the pack n’ play and was screaming and crying every 30 minutes and we had to bring him into our bed for the night?”

Well, right after I said this, Tyler starting having night terrors and it was a long night full of us all switching beds like musical chairs. The last episode was Luke crying because Tyler was snoring too loud and he couldn’t go back to sleep after Tyler woke him up with one of his night terrors. So, Luke ended up sleeping the rest of the night with me while Jason took the top bunk. I think we have a Legoland curse on us when it comes to sleeping in their hotels because we always have a rough nights. Have your kids had night terrors? They are crazy and a little scary!

The next morning we all got up at 7:30 am, got ready and packed up. We enjoyed the complimentary buffet breakfast, before hitting the park for day 2 by 9:30 am.

We hit all the main roller coasters again that morning. We then split up, Jason took Tyler back to the Duplo playing area and Luke and I went on Technic Coaster.

We walked around Miniland to see all the lego displays…did you know they took away all the StarWars exhibits??….Disney must have made them. We also did the fun activity where you have to pump your fire truck or police truck to get to the burning building to put out the fire. Tyler loved this!

The Boys had a blast playing on the Hideaways play area.

Our last stop was the Lego shop to let Tyler and Luke pick out a gift to take home. Luke chose a Ninjago onesie and a lollipop and Tyler picked out his first big boy lego sets.

We left around 1 pm to be back home in time for the Super Bowl. Jason helped Tyler build his new Lego garbage truck and I helped him build the ice cream truck and Luke played around in his onesie and with the shooter he built from Legoland.

What a fun and memorable weekend we had together. We love going to Legoland and staying at their fun hotels. They are building a new land called The Lego Movie World…so we will be back!!
