Mom with a Plan

A Day In The Life of the Gimeno’s /
February 2021

This is a post where I choose a day at random and document our day. I love reading these types of posts because I find it fascinating to see how people do life and what happens throughout their day.

I want to start off by saying our life isn’t the most exciting right now but I know people enjoy seeing how others do life and I enjoy reading these kinds of posts too. The random day I documented was on a Wednesday two weeks ago.

Let’s get this thought out of the way, I’m not a morning person. I’m the most productive in the mornings but I don’t enjoy getting up at the crack of dawn. Now that my boys are older I choose to not get up before them. During the week I rise at 7:15am.

I’m lucky that I have a partner that helps in the mornings and evenings with our kids. Jason and Luke are the first ones to get up around 6:15am. Jason makes Luke breakfast while Tyler and I are still sleeping.

I help Luke comb down his mountain of hair, this kid has SO much hair and it’s very thick. Yes, I’m a little envious of it and I’m not sure where he got it from.

On Mon/Wed/Fri I take the morning carpool to school…so we are off at 7:35am. Real life here, Tyler was upset that he didn’t have enough time to grab some toy he wanted for the car ride, so he’s upset at me in this picture. He does a pretty good angry face, don’t you think??

When we arrive back at home and I prepare Tyler’s breakfast. He usually has cereal or pancakes and yogurt. I forgot to grab a picture of him with his breakfast.

While Tyler is eating, I tend to my blog. I publish my post for the day, reply to comments, and tend to my social media over coffee #1 for the day. On this day I published, Let’s Look! At Love Language!

I then write in my daily Gratitude Journal that I have personalized. I always like to start my day off positive and having a journal helps me be intentional.

Then it’s off to resetting the kitchen from breakfast and emptying the dishwasher, doing all those kinds of fun tasks.

I then make our bed for the day

But my our bedroom no matter what I do is still a play zone for Tyler so this side of the room currently looks like this….

I do my morning skin-care routine with my Beautycounter products. I’m using the anti-aging line Countertime. I wash my face with the cleansing oil and then put on this mineral boost to hydrate my skin.

I get dressed in my workout clothes and head back downstairs to go over workbook pages with Tyler to work on while I work out.

He does such a great job working on the pages I assign him while I workout and I hoping this routine sticks! Usually, after he is finished he calls his Grandma in Florida for their daily zoom call.

I head out to our at-home gym in the garage and begin my workout with a 30 minute routine with the Faster Way To Fat Loss app. Today is strength-training focussing on upper body and abs.

To make sure I get in all my steps for the day, I go on the elliptical for a 1-1.5 miles.

I hung out and played with Tyler for a little bit until I broke my fast at 11am. I decided to make hot oats with berries for breakfast.

I LOVE topping my oats with almond butter, it’s so yummy and satisfying!

I’m currently trying liquid collagen and this Modere Liquid Biocell comes highly recommended.

I’m big on taking all kinds of vitamins everyday!

Time to shower and get dressed and get my make-up on.

I made Tyler lunch and got his lunchbox ready for school. This was also a big day for him at school. It was his 100 day in school celebration and his Valentine’s Day party!! He was so excited!!

It was time to take Tyler to preschool, he attends the PM session. Jason just got his new car and we decided it was time for me to take it for a test spin and drive Tyler to school in his fancy new car.

We wait in the drop off line, we aren’t allowed to get out of our cars or take our kids into school. So, we wait our turn and then greet his amazing preschool teacher, Mrs. Annemarie!

I head back home to work on my blog. I have about an hour and fifteen minutes where I am kid-free and have no distractions. So, it’s time to put my head down and get to work.

Luke arrives home around 2:15pm. I’m always so excited to see him and have him back at home with me. Luke has his after school snack and then does his homework.

We have a rule of breaking a sweat everyday, so today he decided to go on a run.

He wanted me to take a cool shot of him in the air, LOL

I have my second meal of the day usually around 2ish and it’s typically a homemade smoothie.

Strawberry Banana Protein Shake!

Luke arrives back home from his run and gives me a big hug! I love how his cute cheeks get all rosy after working out just like me 🙂

I go and pick up Tyler from school at 3:30pm and he is one happy boy with all his loot from his friends at school.

I have my afternoon snack. These protein bars from Costco are so good and the box comes with chocolate brownie ones too.

I was in need of more energy bites for my regular macro days so Tyler helped me make a batch.

We eat dinner on the later side around 6:30ish. Tonight, I was cooking a sheet pan dinner for Chicken Fajita bowls with black beans. This batch also made enough chicken for me to use for lunches during the week.

It was yummy!

Family Dinner Time!

Each night a different family member leads us in prayer and then we go over each of our highs, lows and what we are thankful for. This usually leads into other discussions. It’s our time to go over our next day, discuss weekend plans and catch up as a family.

While I clean up after dinner, Jason takes the boys upstairs for father/son time together. I like to listen to music, an audio book or a podcast during this alone time by myself and it’s actually pretty enjoyable for me.

Even though Luke receives free lunches at school through the end of the year, a few times a week he asks me to make his school lunch….lucky me, LOL

I also prepare my overnight oats for tomorrows breakfast.

I reset our family room to start fresh for the next day….

The boys playing with their fun Dad! They put on music and the fun color lights we have in our bedroom and played basketball. Boy moms out there having an inside basketball hoop is awesome at getting their nightly energy out before bedtime.

Luke wanted me to take an action shot, lol

While Jason runs shower/bathtime with the boys I do my nightly skin care routine with Beautycounter. I remove my makeup with these wipes. Then I use the Countertime renewal eye cream. I then use the overnight resurfacing peel all over my face and finish off by using the Countertime tetrapeptide supreme cream.

Jason reads with Luke while I read to Tyler.

Tyler wanted to take some funny pictures together, LOL!

The boys are in bed by 8:30pm. Then Jason and I have our relax time together. This can range in a variety of different things but on this night we watched our current show that we are enjoying, called Imposters.

We like to go to bed at the same time and Jason watches a late night talk show while I read up on other peoples blogs. I forgot to take a picture but we were out like a light by 11pm.

Thank you for reading along today and I hope you enjoyed viewing a typical day for the Gimeno family. Like I said nothing too exciting just going through our daily routines. I think the next Day In The Life post will be how we do life on a weekend day.

I’ll see you back on here tomorrow for my Friday Favorites post.
