Mom with a Plan

Friday Favorites!
March 5, 2021

We had a productive week in tackling the dreaded to-do-lists! But as always we are looking forward to the weekend.

Let’s get right down to it for our Faves over this past week.

Luke had a playdate with his friends Ryland and Graham and they had a blast. From riding bikes, jumping on the tramp, playing basketball and roaming the neighborhood getting all of their energy out. Watching them play, laugh and bond was a FAVORITE!

The action Jump Shot!

Lots of things were thrown at us last week. I don’t want to get into all the details for the sake of my boys privacy. But I thought this particular incident could be helpful for you moms to be aware of.

I took Tyler to urgent care for two things this past Friday, one of them was for his ears. He has very small ear canals and wax has been building up in both ears. He didn’t complain about his ears or them hurting so we didn’t know anything was wrong. What we did notice was that he wasn’t hearing well in recent and that became a fact after he failed his hearing test at his wellness appt last week. We used drops twice a day for a few days. Then in urgent care they flushed both of his ears out with warm water 4 times with each ear. He was SO brave and OMG you guys… SO much stuff came out, it was crazy.

Then his reaction was priceless…he was jumping up and down and yelling, “I can hear, I can hear and my voice is so loud!” A bunch of nurses and doctors came to see what the fuss was about and everyone was clapping, it was like seeing a kid hear for the first time after getting hearing aids. It was a very celebratory moment. I also felt terrible because I had no idea how hard it was for him to hear. Needless to say this issue isn’t going to go away so we will stay on top of it so it doesn’t happen again.

Tyler has endured a lot in the past week and his strength and bravery made me one proud Mama! Tyler hearing again is for sure FAVORITE!

On Friday night we had a fun Family Fun Night, ate pizza, had ice cream and enjoyed watching, Starwars The Phantom Menace!

Storytime with Dad before bed. Seeing my boys cuddle up with their Dad is a FAVORITE!

I had lots of play time with Tyler this past weekend and hanging out with him and stepping into his world is a FAVORITE!

On Saturday we went to the mall, for the FIRST time in a year! Jason needed jeans, pants, shirts and the boys both needed new shoes. There are certain items I do not enjoy purchasing online and jeans and shoes are two of them.

The boys got a chocolate treat and Tyler used some birthday money he received to pick out a new lego set.

Watching his passion for Legos grow and seeing how proud and accomplished he feels after putting one together by himself is a FAVORITE! Here is currently how his Lego city looks!

This week I enjoyed a new recipe for Overnight Blueberry Oats!

On Sunday we had a much needed day outside all together. We went on a family bike ride around our neighborhood and to near by parks.

Getting ready to head out….

This is right near our house and the landscape is beautiful!

The first park we visited…lots of going down slides.

Watching my boys have fun together is a FAVORITE!

Luke and I had fun swinging high and then jumping off together!

Playing soccer!

Laying in the grass and looking up at the beautiful sky!

The second park we visited…

Quality time together is a FAVORITE!

Lots of exploring…

I love the views of nature and the mountains.

It was a great day and it’s exactly what we all needed after a HARD week.

Tyler received this awesome fort from my parents for his birthday from Lakeshore Learning. Tyler loved constructing and building the perfect fort in his bedroom.

A lot of imaginative play happened this past weekend, from having parties with his stuffed animals, playing camping, to looking at books with a lantern at night.

Tyler even spent the night in his fort inside a sleeping bag. Lakeshore is a wonderful resource for purchasing educational toys, projects, imaginative toys and useful organizing tools to help organize and orchestrate learning at home.

Thanks for reading along today! Check in next week for my posts on a recipe for Baked Garlic Parmesan Chicken with Cauliflower Rice, How We Do Our After School Routine, and Friday Favorites!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, friends!
