Mom with a Plan

Five on Friday! May 8, 2020

Happy Friday, friends!! We made it through another week, are you as tired as I am?? Who’s ready for a relaxing Mother’s Day this Sunday? I sure am ready for my people to wait on me some, lol! I hope you enjoy seeing what we were up to this past week…let’s get to it!

1// Crafts outside in our courtyard:

We had a great time together creating animals and shapes with Aquabeads!

Creative Time!
They are so sweet when they are not arguing, lol!

2// Kid activities and experiments this week:

Sticker fun:

My toddler loves stickers! It’s a simple toddler activity to keep them busy while you help your other kids with virtual school or for when you are trying to get some work done. This sticker pack comes with a variety of 500+ stickers. Tyler will pick which stickers he wants to use and I will draw him a basic landscape or scene that fits that category of stickers. I’m not a talented artist but I do my best!

Sticker Packs from Amazon (over 500+ stickers for $7)
The car pack of stickers were from the dollar bins at Target. I didn’t get a picture of all the puffy stickers but this is how they come.
Here I created scenes of a city & the sky. Then Tyler wanted a city with a road.
He then requested a road by the city and a road by the water.
Next, an under water scene and a zoo!
He requested a refrigerator and a road to do a traffic jam.
A road with curves with a train track and a road with lots of intersections.

Experiment: Mentos & Diet Coke

What happens when you mix them? They cause an explosion!

Night Swimming:

Our boys think it is special & fun to go swimming once it’s dark!
Check out this air shot by Luke, lol
He’s so happy to be swimming…sun is about to set!

3// Cleaning make-up brushes:

I don’t know about you but it was definitely time to start cleaning my make-up brushes more often. I found this cleaner to help me out, you can find it HERE. Truth be told, in the past when my brushes used to get gross, I would just buy a new brush. Obviously, that solution is a waste of money and good brushes are not cheap. It’s a better solution to invest in a cleaner and be able to use your nice brushes for a longer time. This cleaner worked great and got the job done!

You fill a bowl with enough cleaner to be able to soak the dirty make-up brush for a few seconds.
I take the brush and rub it on the side of the bowl to get the dirty solution off of the brush.
There’s something very satisfying about seeing all the make-up come off the brush.
YES, nice and clean! After it goes into the solution, you wipe the brush off on a paper towel to get the rest of the make-up off.
The concealer and foundation brushes really need it and more often.
All my brushes, look beautiful! You need to wait for them to fully dry before using them again. I cleaned them in the morning after I did my make-up for the day. Now they have time to dry before I use them the following day.

4// New family TV show: Nailed It!

Our LEGOMasters show ended and we were in need of finding a new show for our family to enjoy. We found this show called Nailed It! We all are loving it and it makes us laugh out loud. It’s a food competition for amateur at home bakers to recreate different baking scenes, from Donald Trumps head, to Sushi, to animals taking a chocolate bath…the show has tons of humor and is very creative. What the contestants create is usually hilarious and far from how it should look. I recommend checking out this show….

5// New Kitchen Gadgets:

I love finding new kitchen gadgets to help make my life easier in the kitchen. Here are my latest Amazon finds:

Foldable Plastic Cutting Board:

This foldable cutting board was a fun find. When you are chopping up your veggies and need to add them to your pan or pot only to have some of the pieces fall into your stove…this tool eliminates that problem.

Yay, no mess and easy to use!!

Rubbermaid Freshworks Produce Saver Food Storage Container:

I was tired of my berries going bad quickly and was looking for a solution and found these food saver containers. You put the fruit in the container unwashed. The tray at the bottom helps keep the fruit dry and from molding. You end up getting to enjoy your fruit fresh for longer!

OXO Good Grips 3-in-1 Avocado Slicer:

I was so excited for this tool, we love our avocados here in California and at the Gimeno home! This tool is fantastic, it’s useful and it gets the job done all with one tool, I highly recommend it!

Step 1: cutting the avocado open
Step 2: getting the seed pitted out of the avocado…love the help with this step!
Step 3: cutting the avocado into slices.

That’s a wrap on this week’s 5 on Friday, I’m hoping you are finding these posts informative and useful and full of ideas that you can apply to your home. Have a great weekend and Happy Mother’s Day to all you hard working Moms out there that are keeping your families happy and well taken care of. My wish is that you are all well appreciated by your families and shown the love you deserve!
