I hope everyone had a great 4-day week after the holiday weekend! We had a memorable weekend full of fun. Our weekend started off with Family Fun Night on Friday night where we watched, The Willoughbys movie. Saturday I had my milestone birthday where I celebrated turning 40. On Sunday night we had an entertaining family cocktail zoom call. Then on Monday we celebrated Memorial Day with our close friends, having BBQ and good times in our pool. This past weekend was good for my soul and filled up my heart with love.
Let’s get down to my Five things on Friday, shall we….wait first, I realize I have a lot of pics from my bday but I wanted to document the day. Also, be sure to check out the two fun kid projects at the end of this post!
1/ Recap of my 40th Birthday:
I got to sleep in on my birthday, which was glorious! I started my morning off with getting love from all my boys while enjoying a hot cup of coffee while I had a raspberry danish.
I then decided I wanted to get ready and dressed for the day. My sweet husband made me my favorite morning cocktail, a Bloody Mary to enjoy while getting my make up put on.
I came down stairs and the TV was on with this:
Jason said, “do you know what you are about to watch?” I’m like, “NOPE!”
Jason arranged for all my close friends and family to send in a video to wish me happy birthday and well wishes. Many included what they love about me and to say I was touched by this amazing gift is an understatement. I was crying tears of joy seeing all my people up on my screen. It was beautifully edited and had background music. This is a wonderful gift to do for someone as a keepsake to look back on in years to come. It’s called “Tribute”. A BIG Thank You to all of you that did this for me, it meant the world to me, especially on this milestone birthday where I was not able to celebrate it liked I had hoped.
We then headed into the dining room to open gifts and read cards.
I enjoyed hearing from friends from all walks of my life on Facebook and read through my messages and responded to everyone, so special to get these messages on your birthday!
I then packed up the boys for their sleepover at Grandma L & Papa Forrest’s house!
Jason and I then headed to Dana Point to Downey Beach! We took a nice long walk down by the water.
We then zipped by Ciao Pasta and picked up some dinner to have at home.
2// Boys Sleepover at my parents:
My parents were kind enough to have my boys over for a sleepover while we had our “Quarantined 40th Birthday Celebration At Home”!
3// Memorial Day Recap:
I didn’t take many pictures on this day but it was still a great one! We had my bestie Megan, her husband Cole and their cute son Hendrix over for some fun in the sun! We hung out in the pool and my neighbor’s boys, Graham & Henry joined. It was fun watching Jay play in the pool with all the boys while Cole was getting everyone with the hose. Lots of bubble fun and of course delicious BBQ! We bbq’d burgers, grilled vegetables and had a delishes gluten-free pasta salad. It was a perfect day with friends….have I mentioned how much I love having a pool!!
These are the only pics I took…sometimes I just want to be in the moment and don’t want to capture every event with constant pictures. Thank you to all that have served for our country, we are forever grateful for your service!
4// Preschool Greenhouse Project:
Tyler’s preschool teacher was so thoughtful to send Tyler a sweet note and an at home project to make a greenhouse with lima beans.
Here are the directions to make the greenhouse:
It came with a cute observation journal for keeping count of the days until the bean sprouts. It has a few observation pages so he can draw his findings and write down what he noticed.
On the back of the journal there is a Sprout Sequencing page, where he had to cut out the different stages of the sprouting bean and glue them down in the order they happen.
We soaked the beans in water overnight.
We then cut out the window for the greenhouse. We put two damp cotton pads into the ziplock bag along with the beans and then stapled the baggie to fit in the window of the greenhouse.
Lastly, you are to tape the greenhouse to a window so it will get plenty of sunlight to grow.
5// Sticker By Number Book: Animals
This book is great for older kids and younger ones. I’m doing it with Tyler and it helps him to recognize numbers. I put the stickers on and he determines where to find them by matching the numbers. For older kids it helps with their coordination in being able to match up the stickers. The good thing is the pages in the book are forgiving if you need to remove the sticker to line it up better. You can find this cool book, HERE.
Here are all the animal pictures you get to make:
Here is how it looks before you do it:
Have a great weekend friends! See you back here on Monday!
