Mom with a Plan

Five on Friday!
May 15, 2020

Happy Friday, friends! I hope you enjoy my 5 things for you this week…let’s get right down to it….

1// Kid Activity: Rocket Launcher

This weeks fun new addition was this Rocket Launcher! The boys and I loved it! The launcher shoots the rocket very high up into the air and has a moving ball attached to the launcher so you can change the direction of where you want the rocket to go.

Here is the launch where we learned our lesson of not launching the rockets so close to our house. I sent the rocket to the highest part of our roof, whoops!!

2// Mother’s Day:

I had a wonderful Mother’s Day from start to finish. I slept in and woke up to this cute face…

His hair starts off my day with a smile and I loved his beautiful coloring.

I enjoyed my coffee while having a raspberry sweet roll! My parents got these rolls a lot during my childhood so they taste nostalgic to me.

My boys couldn’t wait to shower me with cards and gifts. After my coffee I enjoyed this special time with them.

Luke made me a flipgrid video for Mother’s Day telling me why he loves me and what he appreciates about me. I was beaming from ear to ear!
My gift and card presentation!
My boys delivered in showing me how much they love and appreciate me. Gestures like today always wash away all the hardships and it makes motherhood so deeply meaningful!
I received a sweet card from Jason with a sweet thoughtful message from him inside.
This is my gift from my boys…it was so sweet, funny and full of love. The “L” and “T” symbolize that the quote was from either Luke or Tyler. Tyler decorated every page!
This one made me laugh because the other day in the pool I wasn’t getting my hair wet because I didn’t want to wash & do my hair. Luke asked, “what if I was drowning?” I said, “I would always save you over my hair!” To him that statement showed him love and it stuck with him, lol
Jason gifted me the most comfortable and soft pajamas ever! I love these and have them in black too.

I then called my Mom to wish her a Happy Mother’s Day and to explain my gift to her. I gifted her StoryWorth. I heard about it from a Podcast I listened to. The process of this gift takes a year to build. Every week for a year they will send my mom a question for her to answer and submit in. At the end of the year they bound together all her responses into a nice keepsake book. I think it will mean so much later in life to have these special stories from my mom and for her grandchildren to read about her.

I went straight from my coffee to Bloody Mary’s and they were delicious, thank you Jason!!

Breakfast is my love language, lol! I love it and I love eggs any style but my favorite egg dish is Eggs Benedict!! Jason has made them for me a few times over the past 15 years we’ve been together but this round was his best yet!

I love Eggs Benedict with avocado, which is another love of mine…I pretty much eat avocados everyday!
Look at that YOKE, it’s perfection! Hats off to my amazing hubby…I forgot that he can cook, lol!

After brunch we hit the pool! We had so much fun together being silly, listening to music and enjoying being together out in the sunshine!

After several hours in the pool we had a family zoom call with our Gimeno Florida Gator Family! It is always so awesome to see them, even if it is only through zoom right now.

Jason then whipped up some dinner for all of us…it was simple and delicious and my filet mignon was cooked perfectly!

After dinner we watched “Back to the Future III”, we started Friday night with the first one and Luke LOVED it and every night of the weekend he requested we watch the next Back to the Future movie.

Fun story...Tyler picked up a basic un-bloomed flower for me on one of our walks and he wanted to put it in some water. For 3 days nothing and then on Mother’s Day it bloomed into a beautiful flower and he was SO proud! It was the sweetest!

3// Kid Experiment: baking soda, vinegar, empty glass bottle, and a balloon

Every week I’m going to try to come up with a new experiment to do with the boys at home to show them how science is fun and interesting.

This week I choose to show them how different ingredients can cause a chemical reaction.

Gather the ingredients for the experiment.
Step 1: Put vinegar into the glass vase or bottle….the second round we added more vinegar.
Step 2: Spoon baking soda inside the balloon. Luke opened up the balloon while I put 4 spoon fulls of the baking soda into the balloon.
My boys are ready for their science lesson!
Step 3: put the balloon around the top of the glass vase.
Step 4: dump the baking soda into the glass.
Step 5: watch how the baking soda and vinegar react together.
It starts to fizz and it blows up the balloon….be careful the balloon can pop!

It was a simple experiment and my boys enjoyed it. For right now, we are aiming to do one experiment per week.

4// Strawberry Lemon Bread

We have enjoyed baking banana bread while at home recently but I was in the mood to change it up. I wanted to try baking a new bread with fruit that was in season.

You can find the original recipe HERE

I had a cute helper!
I think he is going to be a great chef! He has such an interest in food, cooking, baking, grocery shopping…he loves all of it!
So delicious….Go Make It!!!

5// Bianca Visor:

The time has come where us girls need to protect our faces while out in the sun and I LOVE this visor! It comes in two colors and I have both of them and I wear them so much! I wear them on walks or when playing outside with my boys and a ton while I’m hanging out in the pool. It travels well, you can bend and scrunch it and it will go right back to its normal shape, I highly recommend this awesome visor. You can find it HERE.

Have a great weekend, friends! Do you have any fun plans? I know some areas are starting to open up….not so much in California yet, we are opening up at a slow pace. I hope you are able to get outside and enjoy this beautiful world we live in!
