Mom with a Plan

Mother’s Day Recap!

I hope you all had a relaxing and fun day with your family!

I had a wonderful Mother’s Day from start to finish! My boys did a great job at making me feel loved and appreciated.

I woke up at 9:30am (yes, I slept in and enjoyed every minute of it) to a hot coffee brought to me in bed. Luke gave me his special gift he made for me at school. Tyler hasn’t gifted me his special gift yet due to his preschool having to reschedule the Mother’s Day tea (I attend it this Friday).

He wrote me this beautiful poem! I live for these special gifts from my boys, it makes everything worth it. I love that teachers always find creative ways for our kids to shower us with love.

He also made me this beautiful and bright flower. He said he used blue because it is my favorite color, he knows me well.

They showered me gifts before we headed out for a fun morning.

Love my boys SO much! Jason did an awesome job at finding gifts they could personalize for me.

Luke gave me a special vase that said “To The Moon and Back” Love, Luke and it has a fun picture of us on the swings together from one of our family bike rides. That was a memerable day and now I have a vase that will hold beautiful flowers to remind me of it. Tyler gave me this cute candle that smells heavenly and says, “Mama Bear” Love, Tyler and a sweet picture of us in our pool together. They know how to make my heart happy!

Jason is a very thoughtful gift giver. He knows I’ve been trying to get together with my friend Kelly and he is treating us both to a facial in Newport Beach. Afternoon with one of my best friends makes me so happy! What a sweet and generous man I have, well done hubby!

We headed out to have a yummy brunch together.

Love this message board as you walked in…

Cheers to all the wonderful Mother’s!!

I got to sit next to this cutie!

But Luke popped over to give my a nice shoulder rub!

He’s so sweet to his mama!

My favorite things to order when I’m at Brunch:

Bloody Mary!

Eggs Benedict! This one was very unique in that it wasn’t on top of bread but was on top of a fried nest of potatoes.

Avocado Toast! I couldn’t decide which one to get so Jason and I split the Benedict and the Avocado Croque Madame! It was SOOOO delicious!

Brunch was very tasty and I enjoyed every sip and bite!

We headed over to Dana Point Harbor to grab some coffee and walked around amongst all the beautiful sailboats.

Tyler got hot chocolate and Luke got chocolate ice cream. Everyone was happy!

Family Picture Time…they know their mama loves taking some family pics!

I really lucked out in the thoughtful husband department….he may be more of a last minute man but somehow he always pulls off days like this to be meaningful and fun. I appreciate all his hard work and effort in showing me how much I’m loved!

I’m so thankful for these three! They made me a mommy and a wife, two of the most important roles I will ever have. I love taking care of them and doing all the little things to show my love and it feels so nice to be appreciated.

Riding on Dad’s shoulders will never get old…you never know when it will be the last time you are able to put them on your shoulders. I savor moments like these.

We went by my parents afterwards to visit, of course I had to see my beautiful inside and out mom. My parents were leaving the following day for a 2-week trip and needed to get ready for it. I had lunch plans earlier with my mom in the week but had to cancel them because Tyler was throwing up and was ill that day. We plan to reschedule our lunch date for after she gets back.

My mom is wonderful and I’ve learned so much from her over the years. She is loving, generous, and always made sure we were happy and cared for, I really did have a great childhood.

My gift to my mom! I wrote her a letter inside the card. I think cards are a great time to tell the person how you feel about them and to recall memories and to thank them for all that they do and bring to your life.

The boys entertained us by playing the piano!

We went back home and relaxed. I got to enjoy a quiet afternoon while my boys played outside with friends. I had a nice conversation with my in-laws and I enjoyed not having to cook dinner.

Jason made plans for dinner and he smoked tri-tip steak in our meat smoker. Also, on the menu was loaded baked potatoes, and a tomato & onion salad. We enjoyed my favorite dessert, chocolate chip cookies….the meal was soooooo delicious! I savored every bite!

I gotta say I enjoyed watching Jay in the kitchen. He’s a good cook but a little rusty since I do pretty much all of the cooking for the family. He was a little stressed to get everything right and I felt like he understands my daily struggle. I was telling him how a few nights a week, I’m making two different dinners because the boys won’t eat what we’re having, HA! We both work hard and have our own challenges each day and I think it’s good for us to sometimes step into the other persons routine to fully appreciate the other person.

I also want to recognize that this day can be hard for many and my thoughts and prayers are with those that have lost a mother, a child, or for those whom are still trying to have a baby. To all the mother’s out there, thank you for working hard to raise amazing human beings, it’s the most important job we’ll ever have as well as the toughest and most fulfilling. Happy Mother’s Day, friends!
