Mom with a Plan

Gimeno Things…..

This is a post where I will tell you about 3 random things about each one of the Gimeno’s. Little bits of randomness for you to enjoy reading about our family. I hope you like it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Luke (9.5 years old)

1. Singing Voice

Not many know this but Luke has a great singing voice. I hope he puts it to good use one of these days and I would love to see him shine in school plays. I will randomly hear him sing when he is by himself in the shower, while he is doing homework and he definitely loves singing along to music when we are in the car. I love his voice, it’s music to my ears!

2. Drawing

Lately, Luke has taken up the fun hobby of drawing. He uses tutorials on youtube where he learns how to draw step by step. It’s amazing what you can draw when it is broken down into steps for you. I’ve done a drawing with Luke where we both drew Yoda and it was a fun activity to do together.

3. Social Gamer

Luke is quite the social gamer these days. We do have him on a time limit and a schedule of when he can play to ensure he has a good life balance. But it’s hysterical listening to him play along with his friends (he is only allowed to play with kids he actually knows). Since we are in a pandemic and we can’t play with and see friends in person as much as we’d like, I’m happy he has this social outlet where he can talk, laugh and enjoy playing a game with his friends. He has his own Youtube channel called, Luke Plays! I’m so proud of him and his computer skills, he definitely takes after his Dad. He works hard and has learned how to use an editing program for his videos. He’s also learned how to make graphics and I couldn’t be more proud of what he has accomplished with his own youtube channel.

Tyler (almost 5 years old)

1. Learning Everything

Tyler is on a roll right now with wanting to learn everything. He is so smart, takes direction well and always puts forth his best effort when learning something new (which hasn’t always been the case). Lately, he was determined to hold a pencil correctly and write his own name and he was SO proud, as were we, when he got it down. While I work out in the morning, our routine is that before I start, I will go over 10 pages with him of a workbook and he will diligently work hard until completion. He’s so proud to show me what he accomplished and I’m also happy that he’s off the screen and entertained while I work out….Total WIN!!

2. Loving Teddy Bear

To know Tyler is to feel unconditional love. He is my love bug! I mean, you guys, he melts my heart ALL DAY LONG!!! His loving nature is to express how he feels about you daily. He tells me how much he loves me by using large numbers to say how much. He grabs my face in his sweet little hands and looks me in the eyes and says, “he doesn’t know what he would do without me.” After saying our good night prayers, he will basically put me in a head lock hug and say, “I’m never going to let you go, because I love you so much!” To say he has me completely wrapped around his finger is an understatement, I don’t want him to EVER change. I want to soak up every minute of this sweet stage that he is in. Have I mentioned, that I LOVE being a boy mom, God knew when he blessed me with boys!

3. Love Language- spending time with you

No one is more excited for quality family-time together than Tyler! He loves snuggling up with me and reading several books and discussing them together. He loves to play games together as a family or just with mommy and me time together. He is competitive when he plays games but also very thoughtful, I love this character trait about him. If we are playing Zingo, for instance, and we both call out the same word at the same time, he is always like “no you get it mom, you said it first.” Even though I want to give it to him, lol. Every evening before dinner, he’s like, “are we going to eat as a family?” At dinnertime, he loves discussing each of our highs, lows, and what we are thankful for. Tyler generally leads this family discussion. Quality time spent together is definitely his love language!!

Jason

1. Playing the drums

Jason has many talents but one fun one is his passion for music. We love discussing music together, the evolution of music, what we love about different artists, what we like about different songs, this is definitely a favorite topic for us. He has this awesome talent at putting together a lineup of songs, whether its choosing songs for a road trip, or playing songs as we hang out from different eras and genres. It’s always a treat to go on a musical journey with him. But mostly, he is just musically talented. He plays the guitar, the piano and recently is playing the drums a lot more since he got a drum set for his birthday. Fun fact: he was in lots of bands as a kid and I won’t be surprised at all if he joins a local band at some point in the future. I’m a sucker for live music and the fact that he can play so many instruments is such a turn on for me, HA! I love this talent of Jason’s!!

2. COO (Chief Operating Officer)

Jason’s work ethic is impeccable! He has always been good at balancing, personal life, work, kids, and self-care. He started with TechMD almost 14 years ago when their team was only 4 people, and has helped the company grow to 62 employees. He is a great leader and boss and I’m proud at how far he has come in his managerial skills. Jason has SO much patience, I’m sure his clients could tell you about it, but I’ve seen his patience in action because he is the go-to man for technical difficulties in our family. This is for sure another trait that I love about him because it also translates into how patient he is with me and with our boys.

3. Voice of Reason

Jason is by far the first person I go to when I need guidance on anything. First of all, he has a way with words, he can eloquently put things into perspective. He’s honest, fair, and will for sure tell me when I’m wrong and why (most of the time without hurting my feelings). He holds me accountable, I actually very much need this in certain areas, Lol. He pushes me to be better, doesn’t sugar coat things, and he will provide me with constructive criticism if I’m needing it. There’s no hiding from him, he knows me best and knows what I need to hear to get my butt in gear. He makes me a better person, and I love him for it!

Julie

1. Loud Voice

For as long as I can remember I’ve always had the loudest voice in the room. When I was little, I was the one getting in trouble in class because the teacher could always pick out my voice as the one being heard above all others. When I’m hanging out with family and friends, I am very excitable and my voice can go from a 0 to 60 in seconds and I feed off of others around me in just being loud. Sometimes I just feel the need to be loud and will belt out in a song or make loud noises. Then as an adult my voice has just gotten louder with age, when I’m with my mom or Jason they tell me on a regular basis to lower my voice. I by no means am trying to be loud or annoying, my voice is just plain old loud and I can’t help it. I am trying to be more mindful of this trait but it’s proving to be a tough challenge for me.

2. List Maker

I have always been a list maker, it’s part of who I am and it gives me a sense of order and calm when life seems to be moving fast and I don’t want to miss a beat. I have lists on my phone in Evernote, I have lists in the Notes app, I have lists in my planner, I have a running list of to-do’s for the week and the month, and I have lists for my blog on paper and in a program called Asana. Some lists are digital but most are on cute paper connected to a clip board or on cute stationary. Nothing makes me happier then to check off items in red ink when I’ve completed a task. Making lists is something I’ve done since I was a small child and it has never gone away. It makes me feel organized, makes it so I don’t miss a beat and is completely life giving to me.

3. Psychology

I majored in Business and Consumer and Retail Science but I almost have a minor in Psychology. I loved taking Psychology courses in school and if I could redo my college major, I would have studied Psychology and would have gotten my masters in it. I love studying the mind and behavior. I love people, I love listening to peoples stories and I love helping people with their problems. I am the go-to person to give advice to my parents and my closest friends. It makes me happy to help them out and to get to the root of the problem. Sometimes issues require me to be a good listener and some require a more in-depth discussion. I like to dive in deep and sometimes I get caught up by being too wordy. But I like to think I’m being thorough in my attentiveness and attention to detail. I love to help people and it makes me feel useful.

Have a great day!
